Al Conklin and Bill de Decker Business Aviation Management Scholarship

NBAA Charities and Jet Support annually award up to $5,000 to an undergraduate student who is officially enrolled in an aviation management program at a two or four year school. The scholarship was initially created to honor the memory of Al Conklin, a U.S. Air Force veteran and business aviation leader for more than 60 years. Conklin’s experience as a business aircraft salesman in the early decades of his career informed his later work in proving the economic value of aircraft to business. Today, the scholarship also honors Bill de Decker’s contributions to business aviation, for which he was honored in 2014 with NBAA’s John P. “Jack” Doswell Award. Together, Al Conklin and Bill de Decker first published the Aircraft Cost Evaluator in the 1970’s and later founded Conklin & de Decker, an aviation information company that provides aircraft operating cost and performance data.

Students Affected by Cancer Scholarship

This scholarship is open only to undergraduate and post-graduate students at accredited colleges and universities in the United States. You must be scheduled to enroll in classes within one academic year of the deadline for the scholarship. We will notify the winner within approximately 90 days of the scholarship end date. The winner will be chosen based on the essay and meeting the scholarship requirements. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, sexual preference, age, disability, national origin or any other protected status.

The Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant Program provides financial assistance to Massachusetts residents who are currently employed as paraprofessionals in Massachusetts public schools, but wish to become certified as full time teachers. This grant is designed to reduce their financial burden and help address the Commonwealth's current teacher shortage. Financial need is not a requirement for the Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant. However, recipients must annually file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

To be eligible for a Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant, a student must: be a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year prior to the opening of the academic year; be a U.S. Citizen or non-citizen eligible under Title IV regulations; complete a FAFSA; not be in default of any student loans; have not yet earned a bachelor's degree or equivalent; enroll in an undergraduate degree program at a Massachusetts college or university; be employed, for a minimum of two years, as a paraprofessional in a Massachusetts public school (if employed less than two years as a paraprofessional, a student may qualify for the grant only if the undergraduate course of study will lead to teacher certification in high-need disciplines); maintain satisfactory academic progress in accordance with institutional standards; and must sign a Terms and Conditions Statement requiring the student to serve as a full-time teacher in a Massachusetts public school.
