The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology (DFBSST) is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American undergraduate students who enroll in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). DFBSST identifies students through the assistance of Engineering and Science Department deans and professors at pre-selected, predominantly Black colleges and universities. DFBSST requests the deans and faculty members to identify a specified number of students that they would like to be considered for scholarships, and to pass on DFBSST scholarship application forms to these students. To be eligible for the CREW Greater Philadelphia Scholarship, you must: be currently be enrolled in a Greater Philadelphia-area accredited college or university; be pursuing a degree in a field related to the commercial real estate industry; have a 3.0 GPA; and be an incoming junior, senior or graduate-level student. To be eligible for the WIA Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must be interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace field and be a rising junior or senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering, math or science. African Americans represent about 11% of the US population, but only around 4% of doctors. So in addition to supporting underserved communities, it's important that we increase representation in medical schools, pharmacy schools, dental schools, and the healthcare field more broadly. Healthcare professionals dedicate their lives to public service and providing for local communities through their practice, but many prospective medical professionals don’t have the opportunity to graduate with a degree debt-free. The MedLuxe Representation Matters Scholarship is designed to support students dedicated to providing equitable healthcare opportunities for underrepresented minorities and low-income communities across the country.
