The Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, more than 26,400 ninth through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $1.4 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Although U.S. citizenship is not required, studentsmust be lawful U.S. permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence . The national first place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school.

Previous recipients of any SICB award (GIAR or FGST) are not eligible. Awards are limited to graduate students currently enrolled in degree programs who are active members of SICB. Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW’s) premier scholarship program. When you apply to Cal Poly, you are automatically considered for most of our university-wide and college-based scholarships. Scholarships for continuing students are usually based on majors and are determined by the specific college or department. Generally, a student should have at least a 3.0 GPA. Both undergraduate and graduate students are considered for scholarships. Scholarships are normally awarded during the spring and summer for the following academic year, although a smaller number of scholarships are awarded in the fall. Dollar amounts will vary. The scholarship money is divided and disbursed each quarter. Scholarships are posted on the student portal and you will also receive an email with instructions on how to accept the scholarship and access other scholarship information. Recipients must be in good academic standing and maintain full-time enrollment while receiving a scholarship (continuing education and concurrent enrollment units are excluded).

The Alma Exley Scholarship Program is dedicated to promoting greater diversity in the teaching profession. The program awards one scholarship annually to a person of color who is enrolled in a teacher-preparation program at a college or University in Connecticut. Those eligible include African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans. Students may apply after having been admitted into a teacher-preparation program in Connecticut. Applicants may be in their junior or senior year of college or pursuing a master's degree.

Waggle is a pet-focused crowdfunding platform that helps pet guardians raise funds to cover essential veterinary treatment for pets in their care. We believe no pet should be deprived of care because their guardian lacks money. That said, we understand many pet parents are financially strained, especially those enrolled in full-time education. Friends of Zayne Adams -aka- FOZA, Inc. is committed to supporting children who are left behind. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has lost a mother due to a maternal suicide related to postpartum depression. Suicide related to maternal mental illness typically occurs during late pregnacy and up to a year after child birth. FOZA is seeking to award Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students in the United States who are attending an accredited four-year institution, two-year community college or trade school. The Peter Kong-ming New Student Research Competition, held annually by the Society for Applied Anthropology, celebrates outstanding student research in the applied social and behavioral sciences. This prestigious award honors Peter Kong-ming New, a distinguished medical sociologist-anthropologist and former SfAA president, whose work focused on applying the social sciences to address critical issues in health care and human services. - Open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled during the calendar year prior to the award presentation. - Doctorate holders are ineligible. - Submissions must be single-authored and based on original, unpublished field research in the social sciences. - First and second-place winners are not eligible for future competitions.

The Lillian Moller Gilbreth Memorial Scholarship was established by the Society’s Board of Trustees in 1958. It honors a woman often called the “First Lady of Engineering.” She inspired many young ladies in engineering with delightful stories, charm, fortitude and forward thinking Dr. Gilbreth, an honorary SWE member, was familiar to the public as the wife and mother in the books and movies Cheaper by the Dozen (she was the mother of 12 children) and Belles on Their Toes. She married Frank Bunker Gilbreth in 1904 and collaborated with him as pioneers in the field of time and motion studies. Lillian Gilbreth combined the perspectives of an engineer, a psychologist, a wife, and a mother; she helped industrial engineers see the importance of the psychological dimensions of work. She became the first American engineer ever to create a synthesis of psychology and scientific management.

The fellowship can be used to support research and study related to the archaeology of Portugal, including the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira. This includes, but is not limited to, excavations, research projects, colloquia, symposia, publications, and travel for research or to academic meetings for the purpose of presenting papers on the archaeology of Portugal. Funds may not be used for institutional overhead, institutional administrative recovery costs, or institutional indirect costs.

The fellowship honors the memory of John R. Coleman, whose premature death deprived the field of a scholar of unusual integrity and promise. John R. Coleman graduated magna cum laude at Harvard University, held a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Bonn, and pursued graduate study at Princeton University. He excavated at Aphrodisias and Morgantina. The Coleman Fellowship is to be used for travel and study in Italy, the western Mediterranean, or North Africa, between July 1 of the award year and the following June 30. The award may not support field excavation projects, nor may AIA fellowship funds be used for institutional overhead, administrative recovery costs, or indirect costs.

The Norman S. Baldwin Fishery Science scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence by encouraging young scientists to undertake graduate research in fishery biology and to enter the field of Great Lakes science. The scholarship is awarded annually to promising M.Sc. or Ph.D. students whose research is likely to make a significant contribution to the understanding of Great Lakes fishery science. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Program is a vital source of funding for the visual arts and art history in Virginia. The Hertz Foundation's Graduate Fellowship award, which is based on merit (not need) consists of a cost of education allowance and a personal support stipend. This specialized DAAD program offers German Studies Research Grants to highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany. Applicants must be American or Canadian citizens or permanent residents, have at least junior standing pursuing a German Studies track or minor, and be nominated for the grant by their department and/or program chair. Applications are open in the spring and fall of each year. The number of recipients will vary. Undergraduates with at least junior (third-year) standing pursuing a German Studies track or minor may be nominated for the grant by the professor supervising their research project. Master’s level graduate students in the humanities and social sciences earning a certificate or working on a project in German Studies may be nominated for the grant by the professor supervising their research project. PhD students in the humanities and social science disciplines in the process of preparing their dissertation proposals on modern German topics may be nominated for the grant by their principal advisor. Students whose dissertation proposals have already been formally accepted one year or more before the application deadline are not eligible for nomination.

As part of its commitment, Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation wants to engage and reward students who have made a significant impact against hunger and are driving awareness and mobilizing youth to be catalysts for innovative models and solutions to eliminate childhood hunger. The CPCU Society NextGen Scholarship Fund was created to promote higher educational opportunities for students interested in careers within the risk management and insurance industry. Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded to selected recipients. Each year, nearly 1,900 students enter the Regeneron STS, submitting original research in critically important scientific fields of study. Unique among high school competitions, the Regeneron STS focuses on identifying, inspiring, and engaging the most promising scientists among the nation’s high school seniors. All Regeneron STS entrants must follow the official rules of entry, which outline eligibility requirements, ethics statements, and rules for scientific research.

This scholarship was set up in memory of Marvin A. Andrews and Charles A. Esser. In addition to the monetary award, the Andrews and Esser Scholarship recipient will be given the opportunity for a paid internship stipend. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors 9th-12th grade students who self-identify as women, genderqueer, or non-binary for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Applicants must be thirteen years or older, attend school in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or on a U.S. overseas military base, and to be considered for a national award they must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have a U.S. Tax ID or Social Security Number. Distracted driving, including due to texting and other cell phone use, is a serious issue that leads to hundreds of thousands of accidents and injuries in the United States each year. The problem is especially prominent among teen and young adult drivers, and teens are also at a greater risk of being the victim of a distracted driving accident. At Kanoski Bresney, we want to support students who do their part to fight the problem of distracted driving. Through the Kanoski Bresney Stand Up to Distracted Driving Scholarship program, we are offering five scholarships, in the amount of $2,000 each, to students throughout the U.S. who are pursuing higher education at the undergraduate or graduate level.

In the fall of 2024, Johns Hopkins began offering full cost of attendance (COA) financial aid packages (including tuition, living expenses and fees) for medical students whose families earn less than $175,000. The Native Fish Society believes that supporting diverse voices builds a groundswell for the revival of abundant wild fish in the Pacific Northwest.
