An annual College Scholarship Essay Contest has been held for several years now. The Frank O'Bannon Grant includes both the Higher Education Award and the Freedom of Choice Award. The grant is designed to provide access for Hoosier students to attend eligible public, private, and proprietary postsecondary institutions. Eligibility for the grant is based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA. The grant may be used toward tuition and regularly assessed fees. The Spouse Scholarship program is designed to encourage Air and Space Force spouses worldwide to pursue associate, bachelor, or graduate/postgraduate degrees. AFA's Dr. Sydell Perlmutter Gold Scholarship will be awarded to daughters of Air Force members pursuing a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Education, or Mathematics (STEM) field. The award will total $20,000 payable in four annual installments of $5,000 each. Requirements -Qualified applicants must submit a complete online application. Eligible applicants will be: Female graduating high school seniors who have excelled in mathematics. -Accepted into an accredited four-year college or university. Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field. -Dependents of currently serving, retired, or deceased Air Force members. -Preference will be given to applicants who: Are first-generation college students. Have demonstrated financial need based on most recent submitted FAFSA. -As this is a multi-year award, to be eligible to receive future payments, recipients will be required to submit to AFA transcript proof of their continued enrollment in a STEM major as well as a letter to the sponsor updating how the scholarship has impacted their lives and STEM aspirations. The scholarship was established for minor dependents of Active Duty, retired, or prior service members of all branches, reservists or National Guard members who are/will be pursuing a two or four-year degree at an accredited college/university. Priority will be given to those dependents whose parent/guardian either: served for eight or more years; died while serving on or in an active duty status, or; has been classified as a wounded warrior through the Air Force Wounded Warrior program. Requirements: -A 600 word essay describing your academic and personal achievements, and goals and how this scholarship will help you accomplish them. -One letter of recommendation written by a teacher, a supervisor, a counselor, or the director of an organization in which you participate. It may not be written by a family member or friend. -The most recent copy of an official transcript. The scholarship was established for children of members of the United States Air Force who are pursuing a college degree. This scholarship is made possible through a generous endowment from the Spencer estate. It provides funds to United States Air Force Personnel (officer or enlisted, Air Force civilian, full time National Guard and full time Reserve) to pursue graduate level education in management and administration fields in preparation for senior level leadership roles. This scholarship will fund one student’s flight training towards a private pilot's license at Destin Flight Works located in Destin, Florida. The scholarship will be up to $10,000 and will be applied towards instructor training and aircraft rental. Any expenses beyond that amount or other expenses incurred as a result of the training (such as transportation and lodging) will be covered by the student. No previous flight experience is necessary. Requirements -Applicant must include an essay of not more than 600 words describing how this scholarship and a private pilot's license will assist in achieving their career or educational goals. -If applicant is a current or recent student, a transcript showing their current GPA and area of study is required. -Per FAA requirements, the student must be 16 years old to fly solo and 17 years old to obtain a private pilot certificate. There is no upper age limit. -This scholarship is applicable only with Destin Flight Works. -The recipient must be available to begin using the scholarship in Destin, Florida in 2023. The recipient is responsible for their own travel and accommodations. -Applicant must be a current AFA member.

The Colegrave Seabrook Foundation International Scholarship operates in cooperation with the David Colegrave Foundation in London, England. Each year there will be an exchange of students between the U.S. and Europe, alternating between the two countries. Scholarship awards of $4,500 will be made.
