Scholarship Description
If you are a high school senior or college freshman living in Fairfield County, enrolled, or enrolling in a music degree program at an institution of higher education, you can apply for the scholarship offered by the Jazz Society of Fairfield County, Inc.
Created to honor the memory of Myron “Micky” Golomb, a well-regarded area saxophonist, educator and habitué of the Jazz Society’s Thursday evening performance presentations, the scholarship is offered to students expressing financial need, dedicated to pursuing a career in jazz performance and/or jazz education. It is open to instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers.
Applicants need to provide:
- A short statement explaining why you are applying for the scholarship, including a description of your musical career goals
- A letter of recommendation from your primary music teacher
- A second letter of recommendation from a non-music teacher, mentor, clergy, etc.
- A parent’s or guardian’s short statement of need (we do not ask for FAFSA)
- A link to a 3–5-minute audio or video audition or, if a composer, a PDF of a score
