Scholarship Description
Are you a high school senior passionate about journalism? If so, consider applying for the Journalist of the Year Scholarships! The scholarships are open to high school seniors who participate in their states’ Journalist of The Year competitions. In order to apply, students must submit a digital portfolio of their journalist work to their state official by their state’s submission deadline. Winning portfolios from each state will then be sent to the national level, with winners announced at the Spring JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention.
The scholarship is offered by the Journalism Education Association, a US-based national organization for journalism teachers and advisors that supports free and responsible journalism by providing resources, educational opportunities, and rewarding student excellence and teacher achievement. Each year, the first-place winner receives $3,000, and the four runners-up receive $1,000 each. If you’re a high school senior passionate about journalism and are looking for some help to pay off your undergraduate degree, we encourage you to apply!
