Scholarship Description
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants:
- MUST be a high school graduate with a strong academic record
- MUST be accepted to or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year institution of higher education
- Should ideally have sustained (1 year or more) involvement in humanitarian service projects. This does not include paid employment but may include church work, community service projects, and tutoring
- Preference given to residents of the following Mon Valley communities (Rankin, Turtle Creek, Braddock, North Braddock, Swissvale, Glenn Hazel, Homestead, West Homestead, Duquesne, West Mifflin, Clairton, Monongahela and Whitaker) as well as Morning Star Baptist Church of West Mifflin attendees
- African American students are strongly encouraged to apply
