The Dakota Corps Scholarship is a scholarship program funded by private business, non profit corporations and the Governors Office. It was established to encourage South Dakota's high school graduates to:
1. Obtain their post secondary education in South Dakota

The International Documentary Photography Award encourages personal involvement in social issues and promotes socially conscious documentary photography. The Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund benefits financially needy dependent children, spouses, and domestic partners of 9/11 victims.

Registrants must be dependent children, spouses, or domestic partners of 9/11 victims, including airplane crew and passengers; World Trade Center and Pentagon workers and visitors; and relief workers, including firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and law enforcement personnel, who were involved in the rescue efforts.

Susan was active in several other organizations such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). She served SWE and ASME in many capacities, and was also an active volunteer with a number of other organizations, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and several animal rescue groups.

The scholarship endowment was funded in 2002 by the New York Section and friends in SWE. It honors all the victims.

Mental illness can make it a challenge for families by not only affecting those who suffer directly but also those suffering indirectly. The Elizabeth Schalk Memorial Scholarship will not only help fund a student's education, but will also memorialize Elizabeth Schalk, who suffered from mental illness throughout her life. This scholarship honors Monte Mitchell’s service of more than 40 years to the Aircraft Electronics Association and the general aviation industry. Mitchell first served as the AEA executive director and later as president of the association from 1977 to 1996. Under Mitchell’s leadership, the AEA Educational Foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians and members of the AEA. It will be awarded to an AEA member employee. The scholarship will cover a full AEA Convention registration along with travel and hotel expenses. Monte Mitchell Scholarship More than $1,500 This scholarship honors Monte Mitchell’s service of more than 40 years to the Aircraft Electronics Association and the general aviation industry. Mitchell first served as the AEA executive director and later as president of the association from 1977 to 1996. Under Mitchell’s leadership, the AEA Educational Foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians and members of the AEA. It will be awarded to an AEA member employee. The scholarship will cover a full AEA Convention registration along with travel and hotel expenses. The award recognizes an AEA member employee for their exemplary job performance and pursuit of professional development. This is an annual award to be given prior to the AEA International Convention and Trade Show. APPLICATION PROCEDURES A complete application will consist of the following: 1. Letter of recommendation from current employer. 2. A brief essay written by the applicant outlining how he or she would benefit in their job by attending the 65th AEA International Convention and Trade Show.

Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarship

Each year, Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarships are awarded to college students enrolled in programs related to vertical lift engineering and demonstrating an interest in pursuing careers related to vertical flight technology. The Foundation scholarship awards are made possible solely by tax deductible donations that have been established and contribute to an endowment.

The VFF scholarships are solely merit-based and the value of the scholarships range from $3,000 up to $6,000 (USD). The program is open to full-time students attending a university or college located anywhere in the world and regardless of a student's nationality.


To be eligible for a scholarship:
- Students enrolled in programs related to vertical lift engineering and who show interest in pursuing a career in vertical flight technology.
- A student does not need to be a member of the Vertical Flight Society, but we encourage you to explore the many benefits student membership can provide.
- High school students are not eligible.
- All applicants must be full-time students at the time of application (February). In addition, the student must be registered in the relevant engineering degree program at least one (1) academic term after the scholarship awards, which are presented at the Society's Annual Forum in May.
- Technical disciplines related to complex aeronautics engineering or aviation systems, even if not considered vertical lift engineering, will receive equal consideration.
- A student can receive an award once as an Undergraduate, once as a Master's student, and once as a Graduate student.

Purpose: To provide scholarships to registered nurses committed to oncology nursing and pursuing a master’s degree in a relevant field.
Scholarship: Mater's scholarships are awarded at $5,000 each.

Selection Criteria:
- The applicant must be currently enrolled in, accepted to, or have applied to a master’s degree program at an accredited institution in the 2026-2027 academic year (starting fall 2026).
